Course Description
This course provides an introduction to digital media production. It includes basic principles and concepts of digital video production using digital video camcorders, digital cameras, computer hardware, and software used to edit these multimedia projects. Web site design and copywriting will also be part of the course. Students will learn a variety of digital activities along the way, such as creating presentations using iPhoto and iMovie, creating print publications using digital media and manipulating digital photography with Adobe Photoshop®. Students will begin with an overview of various digital media types. Reading topics will include copyright, photo composition, advertising principles, design techniques and web navigation principles, to name a few.

Grading Policies and Guidelines
The percentage grading scale is:
A = 100%-93; A- = 92-90
B+ = 89%-87; B = 83-86; B- = 82-80
C+ = 79-77; C = 73-76; C- = 72-70

Media design
Web site construction
Writing for digital media presentations
Photography & camera work

As students become familiar with classroom tools and materials, they will be offered opportunities to work on digital photography and other media projects outside of school. THIS IS A GREAT WAY FOR STUDENTS TO EARN A GOOD PARTICIPATION GRADE AND SOMETIMES, EXTRA CREDIT!

General Course Expectations
1. Regular attendance: If you must be late or absent, you are responsible for the content and assignments of the missed class session.
2. Demonstrated understanding of the content of assigned material.
3. On-time completion and necessary improvements of in-class activities/exercises and assignments. There will be frequent assignments given throughout the semester. Some will be relatively short; others will be more lengthy. Despite the differences in length, all will be considered important.
4. On-time completion of activities, projects and activities that require work outside of class.
5. Arrangements to work in the Mac Lab after school need to be made ahead of time. Last-minute requests may not be honored due to lab and teacher schedules.
Late assignments and/or missing a class without teacher and student agreement will be cause to lower your grade(s).
Any missing assignments/projects/activities will receive a failing grade unless other arrangements have been made with the teacher. Students MUST make up missing work quickly.

Movies may take a while to load.
Not recommended for dial-up modems.
