Comfrey Concert Choir
Grading Policies
2004-2005
Choir is a class based on participation and the willingness by the student. A choir will be successful if each student understands and fulfills his/her role in the classroom and out. Choir is a class where there are not individual "superstars," but a group of students who will all try to become and make each other better musicians. There will at times be solos and other small groups, but everyone has a role. All of us start at different levels in our musical journeys. Some start with natural ability, others have to work very hard, and most of us are somewhere in between. No matter where you start your journey from, there is always room for improvement. Maintaining an open mind and the right attitude will take you far in the journey and in your grades. The following is a list of things you will be graded on in choir;
Rehearsals 10 pts. Per day based on participation and attitude
(exceptional days as a group will score you above this level)
Lessons 50 pts. Each student should have at least 2 lessons a quarter. One of these lessons must be alone.
Performances 75 pts. These are not "choir concerts." This might include field trips, graduation, Memorial Day, and other special events.
Concerts app. 200 pts. This includes setting up, tearing down, being on time, effort, attitude, preparation, and other things. Specific grading sheets will be given for each concert.
Extra Credit unspecified- this would include church choirs, community groups, solo singing, national anthem singing at events, etc. You must fill out a sheet to receive extra points for class
Swing choir and other extra school groups will also add to the extra credit.
