Comfrey High School Science Students Contribute to Hurricane Katrina Relief
Mrs. Poortvliet, science instructor at Comfrey High School issued a challenge to the five high school science classes to donate money to Hurricane Katrina Relief, telling them she would match the contribution the students gave. For two weeks the jar was out, and by Friday, Sept. 16, it was full to the top. The 7th hour class counted the money and it totaled $173.62. The students voted to send the money to the American Red Cross, and on Monday morning, all the science students gathered to hear the results and witness the check writing. With the matching contribution, $347.24 was sent to the Red Cross from the Comfrey School Science Department. Thank you to all the students who helped make this project a success.
