Civics Social Class Completes Family Tree Project
Members of the eighth grade class recently finished researching their families' pasts. The research included a one on one interview with a family member who had good facts and stories to share. The interview included questions about families' past achievers, family origins, why people migrated and where present relatives live and what they do. This interview was to be on an audio or visual tape that will be returned to the student.
A second part of the project included maps to show where mom and dads side of the family live, some written family information about the changes and events they have observed in both farming and small town life.
The project also included an optional area where they could diagram their family including the mother and fathers side of the family. Many did this option and were able to go back as far as into the early 1700s!
The students then shared with their class some of the more interesting and important things they had found out.
